At Simply Social Skills, I understand the challenges parents face when it comes to supporting a child with special needs. It can feel lonely and isolating at times.
My social skill program helps to build bridges to make social opportunities easier for both you and your child.
My goal is to empower parents with the knowledge and skills to effectively create a support system that benefits not only the child but the parent as well.

Answers to Your Questions

-
Are there requirements for the social skills in-person sessions? To ensure a safe, enjoyable experience for everyone in the group, participants must be free from high-risk or disruptive behaviors, including but not limited to: Self-injury Aggressive behavior toward others (e.g. hitting, kicking) Severe tantrum behaviors (e.g. screaming, crying, elopement, refusal to engage) Throwing objects not intended for play Biting or spitting Additionally, all individuals must be fully toilet-trained and able to use restroom facilities independently. These guidelines help create a supportive environment where all participants can thrive and build meaningful connections.
-
How many kids are in a group?Whether in the studio or online, group sizes are intentionally kept small—capped at a maximum of 6 participants. Many clients feel more comfortable and less anxious in smaller groups, and this structure allows for more personalized attention, deeper engagement, and stronger peer connections. That said, I fully understand that life happens. Schedules shift, last-minute things come up, and attendance may vary from week to week. I do my best to maintain consistency while also offering grace and flexibility when needed.
-
Do you work with individuals in the Self-Determination Program (SDP)?Yes! I am a vendor with ACE, Ritz, Aveanna, and GT Independence Financial Management Services (FMS). Please call me directly at 661-388-6775 or email me at simply.social.aba@gmail.com if you are interested in using either vendor.

Are verbal skills necessary? While it’s not required, most children who participate in Simply Social Skills groups are verbal. Through play-based learning, we work to strengthen verbal communication and encourage meaningful interactions with peers. That said, every child is unique—and we deeply value the importance of social opportunities for all children, including non-speakers. If you have questions about whether a group setting would be the right fit for your child, please don’t hesitate to reach out. I’m happy to discuss your child’s individual needs and explore options together.
-
What teaching methods do you use?At Simply Social Skills, I use a variety of engaging methods to support social development, including role-play, group discussions, modeling, and creative activities. A core component of my teaching approach is Positive Behavior Support (PBS)—a research-based framework that helps individuals enhance their quality of life while reducing challenging behaviors. PBS focuses on teaching new, functional skills and making meaningful changes to the environment to help individuals reach their goals. It’s grounded in positive reinforcement strategies that are easy for families to carry over at home, creating consistency and long-term success.

Are Simply Social Skills groups possible online?Yes! If the global pandemic taught us anything, it’s how to adapt—and at Simply Social Skills, flexibility is a priority. For nearly three years, I taught social skills exclusively online to children ranging from preschoolers to young adults. While virtual sessions are certainly different from meeting face-to-face, they can be just as effective for many individuals. Families choose virtual sessions for all kinds of reasons, but the most common are time constraints and transportation challenges. If online support better fits your schedule or your child thrives in a virtual setting, this option can be a wonderful alternative to in-person services.
